The Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, adapted from the European Union’s 95/46 EC directive, came into force in 2016. The Personal Data Protection Authority established by the law is actively working, making necessary regulations (such as regulations, communiqués, decisions, and guidelines), conducting audits, and announcing data breaches to the public. The penalties introduced by the law clearly pose a serious business risk. Therefore, data controllers (such as companies, associations, foundations, etc.) are required to conduct compliance activities to ensure that they act in accordance with the law, its secondary regulations, decisions of the Authority, and its guidelines.

However, the process does not end with just conducting compliance work.
